OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING
Did you know weightlifting has been a part of the Olympics for men since the inaugural modern Games in 1896, but it was only introduced for women much later, in the year 2000? It's time to catch up!
Weightlifting, often referred to as 'Olympic-style weightlifting' or simply 'Olympic weightlifting,' is a dynamic and explosive strength sport consisting of two specific lifts: the snatch and the clean & jerk. These lifts require not only raw strength but also precision, technique, speed, balance, power, and coordination, making Olympic weight lifting both a challenging and rewarding endeavour.
Olympic weightlifting isn't just for elite athletes—it's a dynamic and exhilarating sport that anyone can enjoy and benefit from! Imagine feeling stronger, more powerful, and more confident than ever before as you master the art of lifting a barbell with precision and grace.
Weightlifting has been a constant in my own training for years, something I eagerly anticipate each session. It's a shared passion within my family; my husband, a former weightlifting athlete, secured the British Championship title three years in a row. Meanwhile, our daughter Amber reigns as the current British U10's champion in her weight class.
